"there is no use trying," said Alice; one can’t believe impossible things." "I dare say you haven’t had much practice," said the Queen. "when I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." ~Lewis Carroll

Flu Flu Flu
Poor poor me, I've been struck down by the flu for the past week...started last Monday and is just now starting to go away...I've had no energy and have been sleeping an UNBELIEVABLE amount...which makes me feel a bit Rip Van Winkle-ish...a whole week and what do I have to show for it? Well, I missed two days of work, which was nice (except the first one, I was too sick to enjoy being home), and luckily one of my good friends lives 3 blocks away from me so she was able to deliver medicine (yay dayquil!) and food...but since then? Friday night, I slept A LOT. Saturday night, I actually ventured out, to dinner and a bar where they had a bellydancing showcase...very cool, and the best part was the last dancer: this old woman named Yvette, she had to be in her 70's, wearing a turquoise bra and sequined skirt...she was awesome! And she got the most applause...good for her! Sunday, I saw a CRAZY Korean film called Old Boy - very good, especially that I saw none of the plot twists coming, so I was surprised by everything...thanks to dear cousin Megan on that recommendation, she keeps me informed of the "cool" stuff out there...tonight, I've got free tickets to a comedy club...till next time....

Sad news...
This week was a tough week for me...a very dear friend of mine passed away on Sunday after battling brain cancer for almost two years. Her memorial service was on Tuesday...she was a wonderful human being who never had a bad word to say or an unkind thought about anyone...always laughing, always smiling is how I will remember her...she and I used to work together and on Friday afternoons after our boss left for the day, we would make "special coffees" as a treat (special meaning we added whiskey and whipped cream). I used to go up and visit Patty in Yonkers on the weekends all the time for dinner and drinks in her mother's garden and I will miss all the fun times she and I had together. Yesterday - St. Patrick's Day - was her birthday, and I went to a plant sale and bought a shamrock plant (which will, of course, be named Patty) so that will be my way of keeping her in my thoughts...

Does someone have something to hide?

A photograph is a secret about a secret. The more it tells you the less you know. -Diane Arbus
So I sent you all an email telling you to check me out, and then I don't update it or add anything for a week...the nerve of me! Well, I've been busy (but of course) - with what? On Friday, I had a lovely Thai dinner with a friend...Saturday, I went to the Met to see the Diane Arbus exhibit...AWESOME!! The photographs were amazing, cool, weird, sometimes bizarre and hard to look at, but facinating...and they also had her original letters, cool notebooks she used to write all these crazy notes to herself, documenting what she saw and wanted to capture, and these collage postcards that she made, cutting out fragments and bits of words from books, magazines, etc. and pasting them together to make these wonderful, small, mailable works of art...so cool...maybe I'll try to make one or two myself and mail them to someone special...maybe...? Check out some sites on the web about her and look at her photos...such as: http://www.temple.edu/photo/photographers/arbus/arbus.htm
Oh and Happy St. Patrick's Day to all you drinkers out there...this is your holiday! I will be celebrating on Sunday instead, at an Irish pub in Brooklyn called the Bally Bunion where all the firemen hang out after the Brooklyn St. Patty's parade....woo hoo!

Who is Delirium and why does she make frogs?
Delirium is a character in a graphic novel series that I love - Sandman by Neil Gaiman - and she makes little froggies (as well as other strange items) when she needs to be amused or to entertain others...so that's what my blog will be, just little froggies that I come up with to share with anyone who wants to check them out - make sense? :-)
